As
many of you already know, on March 8, 2002 our home was broken into and
four- (4) Hyacinth Macaws (2 pair) were stolen. I want to thank the many
people who have helped us with our search and take this opportunity to
fill you in to the extent I am able and ask for your help. |

| There were very few people who knew we had Hyacinths. We were very private about owning them; to the point that other breeders in the area didn’t know we had them. Most of the people who knew we had Hyacinths cooperated with the police, took and passed a polygraph test. One person, although initially appearing to be helpful and agreeing to take a polygraph, ultimately refused when contacted by the police. This person is from the Toledo, Ohio area. He started to avoid both us and the police, stopped returning phone calls, and changed his phone numbers shortly after the theft. This prompted the police to further investigate him and find that he shipped 1 pair of Hyacinth Macaws from the Detroit Airport (approx. 5 hours from our home) to Phoenix, Arizona via Continental Airlines the morning after our birds were stolen, March 9, 2002. Per the recipient of the birds, this person initially told her he bought the birds from a couple splitting up in Chicago, but has since changed his story to a couple splitting up in Ohio. The recipient of the birds claims to have resold them. However, she is unclear about where they actually went and cannot provide proof of sale. | ||||||
| After several months of gathering information and attempting to contact the person from Toledo, the police did finally speak with him. He did his best to avoid answering questions around where the Hyacinths shipped on March 9, 2002 came from. After nearly 2 hours he gave the police detectives a name. However, could not provide any information, proof, phone number or address of the person. If you took possession of, sold/traded Hyacinth Macaws with a person in the Toledo, Ohio area, or the Phoenix, Arizona area, after March 8, 2002 please contact us. You may unknowingly hold key information which could lead us to our birds. | ||||||
| If you did take possession of Hyacinth Macaw(s) on or after March 8, 2002 please contact us. If you think you bought our birds, we understand you are in a difficult position: unknowingly buying stolen property, most likely with a significant financial output. Therefore, we are extending you this offer. We are offering a substantial reward to the individual who provides the information directly leading to the safe return of the four (4) birds. In addition, we would consider reimbursement of expenses exceeding the reward amount if the birds you have do turn out to be our birds. | ||||||
| The four Hyacinths stolen were two pair of adult birds. Although they were paired and are of breeding age, they have never bred; and one pair was played with regularly. Therefore, they could have been split up and sold as pets or left together and sold as breeders. It is also possible that these birds were sold through a reputable breeder/broker - unknowingly. For these reasons I am asking everyone who took possession of Hyacinths on or after March 8, 2002 to please call me at 630-886-9295 or email me at lpfrisco@aol.com. Or, if you wish, contact the Willowbrook Police Department, Detective Paul Oggerino at 630-920-2244. | ||||||
| If you know anything about the theft, or the whereabouts of any of the birds please contact us. We can positively identify our birds through microchips and DNA. | ||||||
